The Conservancy administers Colorado’s official Rocky Mountain National Park Group Special License Plate. Your plate donation supports conservation and educational programs in the park.
Since 2017, plate donations have helped fund the High School Leadership Corps, giving young people hands-on experience in leadership, stewardship, and conservation.

The Conservancy will provide the PIN you need to get your RMNP license plate, the plate itself will be mailed to you from the Colorado DMV.
Make your donation
Donate at least $50 through the form below and enter the legal name exactly as it appears on the vehicle title or registration.
2. Receive your PIN
Watch for an email from the Conservancy within three business days. Each vehicle requires its own gift and unique PIN.
3. Complete the DMV process
Take the PIN to your local Colorado DMV office. The DMV collects the state specialty-plate fee, registration charges, and any personalization fees.

Have the legal name from your vehicle title or registration ready. This name is required so the Conservancy’s PIN record matches the DMV record. Please Note: Personalizing your RMNP plate will remove the center elk icon due to DMV design requirements.
Your Conservancy gift and DMV fees are separate. The plate does not include park entry, reservations, or other access benefits.

The DMV manages registration, renewals, transfers, and personalization. The Conservancy manages the qualifying donation and PIN.
Colorado DMV Plate InformationWho is eligible for the plate?
The plate is available to owners of eligible Colorado-registered passenger vehicles, motorcycles, non-commercial trucks under 16,000 pounds, and recreational vehicles.
How much must I give, and what does the DMV charge?
A minimum $50 gift to the Conservancy’s dedicated plate program is required. The DMV separately assesses its specialty-plate fee, standard registration fees and taxes, and any personalization charges.
When and how will I receive my PIN?
PINs are assigned within three business days and sent by email. Check your spam or junk folder first. If it has not arrived, call 970-586-0108 or reply to your automated gift confirmation.
Does a membership or another donation qualify me?
No. Only a gift made through the dedicated license plate program generates the PIN required by the DMV.
Do I need to donate every year to keep the plate?
No. Annual renewal is handled through the DMV. A new Conservancy gift is required only when requesting a plate and PIN for an additional vehicle.
Can I personalize the plate?
Yes. Personalized versions are available through the DMV, but they do not include the center elk icon. Plates issued for disability access also omit the elk image under DMV design requirements.
Can I transfer the plate to another vehicle I own?
Yes. Follow your county DMV’s transfer process. No additional Conservancy gift is required for a transfer between vehicles you own.
